Wiz Khalifa Signs With Atlantic Records

XXL 2010 Freshman Wiz Kahlifa has signed with Atlantic Records. The Pittsburgh, PA MC and his long-time independent label Rostrum Records announced the deal with Atlantic today (July 30) as well as plans to release his debut album in early 2011.

Obviously a deal that had to be valued highly, it's speculated for Wiz Khalifa to ink a deal there would be a $5MM to $10MM signing bonus probably shelled out. The funding after that is totally fluid.

After much anticipation about where the heavily recruited breakthrough artist would sign, the announcement comes as he prepares for his Waken Bake tour, which will hit 55 cities across the country starting in September.

Wiz will be joining fellow 2010 freshman alum Donnis on the label.

Congrats to Wiz; Pittsburgh stand up!

Urbanears Medis Earphones

Throwing all technical jargon to the wayside, and reporting solely from a design standpoint (mostly), Urbanears of Stockholm, Sweden comes through with a nifty little rendition to the common “earbud.” Now supposedly these little guys are more securely fitting to your ears, without pounding away at your inner ear crevice and what not, like all of these modern earbuds so conveniently do these days. But who cares about all that nonsense, the phones look dope, right? The sound quality is supposedly excellent as well, but I’m sure that is just a matter of opinion. So who knows? Available in twelve vibrant colors, the Medis earphones retail for 50 USD and can be found at Urbanears.

Gucci Vintage Carry-On Bag

Seeing how most airliners are charging for your bags these days, it’s almost a necessity to have a carry-on, especially for those short trips. Gucci, along with Creative Director Frida Giannini have designed this retro white canvas suitcase with brown trim to pay homage to their golden days in the sixties. It features the standard Gucci logos along side the classic green and red colors. I imagine this is a nice grip, but if you have the funds go ahead & cop one.

Pharrell: When I Was 17 (Video)

MTV sits down with Pharrell and friends to discuss what he was like when he was 17. Guests include Shay from N.E.R.D. and Pusha T from Clipse. He goes on to tell MTV that his scooter was like his Rolls Royce when he was 17 and that him and his friends were 7-11 junkies. They finally get into the music and reminiscing about the days when MTV would actually play music videos and then talk about his brief career at McDonalds. It’s crazy to think where Pharrell started to where he is now. Hard work pays off people.

I really like how the features mesh so well with Justice League's production of the track; very well crafted for it's direction. I'm hoping Drake has a verse on the album version, but nonetheless, he still did his thing. I'm tryna tell ya'll Teflon Don is gonna be the dopest album to drop this year next to Thank Me Later. Bet!

Hollyweerd: Edible Phat 2.0 (Mixtape)

Atlanta foursome Hollyweerd have joined forces with DJBooth.net to bring fans their long-awaited new mixtape, Edible Phat 2.0. Hosted by heavyweight mixtape DJ/radio personality Don Cannon, the street album features 18 brand new tracks from Dreamer, The Love Crusader, Tuki and Stago Lee, including reader-acclaimed leaks “Love Me” and “Supa Eazy.” I really never gave em' a listen, but the artwork is damn sure legit.

Big Boi: Mixtape For Dummies; Guide To Global Greatness

In preparation for his upcoming album Sir Lucious Left Foot: Son Of Chico Dusty which drops July 6th, Big Boi has been hitting the internet with several projects to give you a taste of what you can expect from his new project. Last week I posted a unique project he was featured on courtesy of Mick Boogie, where his songs were blended with Rick Ross and vice versa. It turned out to be a very ill mixtape and I’m sure this one is going to be just as good.

It features 11 tracks with production from Don Cannon, Rem, LowKey, DJ Ideal, Miami Beat Wave and Mr. Familiar. Guest appearances include ¡MAYDAY!, Bun B, Kirby , AG Lyonz and Summer J.A.E.. The very talented Dream calls on the services of the equally talented Motion Family for the production of his Trilogy video. It also consists of Yamaha, Nikki p. 2 and Abyss for something that really feels like a Prince inspired piece.
